Buying a house at auction can be one way to find a good deal - but is not for the uninitiated. Property auctions are populated by investment professionals who have been around the block a few times and not only have access to a vast range of proferssionals from builders to surveyors, but will be experienced at spotting the pitfalls and accurately pricing up the opportunity value.

2011 has started as a funny year for property, prices have been relatively static for the past 6 months yet there are reports of prices up, down, sideways in the media - yet with such low volumes the price data lacks credibility when trying to identify trends.
A lack of houses for sale can inflate prices as buyers compete for less properties, however with the current difficulties obtaining finance (high LTV barriers and arrangement fees) there are also less buyers around - especially at the lower end of the market where there is usually reliance on first time buyers.
